  EPIC, located in Washington D.C., is a public interest research center. It was established in 1994 to focus public attention on emerging civil liberties issues and to protect privacy, the First Amendment, and constitutional values. It publishes EPIC Alert, an email and online news service on civil liberties in the information age. There are other resources, publications, and tools on the website.

  SDSC was founded with an NSF grant in 1995. It is a research center of the University of California, San Diego. Its mission is to further research and development in computational science and high performance computing.

  UTD began as the Graduate Research Center of the Southwest, an outgrowth of Texas Instruments, in 1961 and became part of the UT system in 1969. Today it has 14,000 students and 432 faculty.
